The easiest way to add an item to a scene is through drag-and-drop.
- Have your scene document opened.
- Open an item file.
- In case of layered PSD, select the whole group in Layers tab, hold it and then drag to a scene document. This way you will move the whole item, including all its layers, shadows etc.
- In case of Smart Object PSD (advised), just drag-and-drop the whole Smart Object into your scene. Then click right mouse button and choose “Edit Contents”, to open a separate window with the layered contents of smart object item. More info here >>
- Position the group in scene’s layer structure for optimal visibility. Make sure all items are positioned above background layer(s).
